Microneedling is an old concept also known as 'Collagen Induction Therapy'. Its based on the skins' natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as cuts, burns and other abrasions. Immediately after an injury occurs to the skin our body renews the damaged collagen and elastin fibres as well as other damaged skin components to produce new ones. Skin Needling allows for controlled induction of the skins self repair mechanism by creating micro-'injuries' in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of scarring. The result is a smoother, firmer and younger looking skin.
Brunel Medical use the 'Medical Grade' titanium dermaroller therefore a topical local anaesthetic is required and applied 45 minutes before the treatment commences.
THIS TREATMENT IS A MEDICAL PROCEDURE AND SHOULD ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER!
How is the treatment administered?
Our practitioner Christine will gently roll the Titanium Dermaroller over your skin to puncture the outermost layers of the skin and create minuscule sub-cutaneous injuries. The microscopic wounds that stimulate the new collagen close within less than an hour.
How will I look immediately afterwards?
Your skin will be flushed in appearance similar as moderate sunbun. You will also experience skin tightness and it will be mildly sensitive to touch. This will diminish after a few hours and within the next 24-36 hours your skin will be completely healed.
How quickly will I see results?
Visible signs of skin rejuvenation are seen after about 4 weeks.
It is advisable to have a course of 4 treatments with one month in between.
How should I care for my skin afterwards?
You can enhance your procedure results with the Personal Dermaroller which you can use yourself at home on a regular basis (The needles are much smaller so anaesthetic cream is not required) in between your Medical Skin Needling sessions and continue after the course is complete. Additionally topical application of Retinol, Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid will lead to a dramatic acceleration of the regenerative process.
How much does it cost?
Price for one session of Medical Dermarollering is £150 per session. Normally 4 sessions are required. Book four sessions for £500 saving £100!
There are many makes of Dermarollers available but at Brunel Medical we use only titanium needles which are precision engineered and super sharp to deliver the most pain-free treatment experience and to promote fast healing.
